The symposium "Neurosciences and Human and Social Sciences: Research Challenges in Mental Health," organized under the auspices of Inserm and IReSP, will be held on November 4th in Paris. This event aims to highlight the critical importance of transdisciplinary research in understanding, preventing, and treating mental disorders. It will bring together neuroscientists, philosophers, sociologists, psychiatrists, and other specialists in the human and social sciences, recognized for their expertise and successful collaborative programs, to promote an integrated approach between advances in neuroscience and perspectives from the human and social sciences.
The program, developed by the scientific committee chaired by Prof. Francis Eustache, will focus on four main topics :
1: Memory and Collective Trauma
2: Aging and Neurodegenerative Diseases
3: Psychedelics and Mental Health: A Medical, Social, and Organizational Turning Point
4: Mental Health in the Face of the Environmental Crisis
Closing the event, the roundtable discussion "How to Develop and Support Collaborative Projects Between Neuroscience and the Social and Human Sciences?" will focus on identifying concrete actions, new collaborative dynamics, and initiatives to foster sustainable synergies between disciplines.
This event is intended to be a unique space for dialogue and the sharing of experiences, aimed at rethinking mental health at the intersection of disciplines. It is part of an approach that combines scientific innovation and a critical perspective from the human and social sciences, in order to transform research practices, change social representations of mental health and support the necessary changes in this essential field.
